ABSTRACT Variables related to social distancing can have negative effects on the emotional well-being and cognition of adults and the elderly. Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the available studies that address the relationship between situations of social distancing, socioemotional aspects, and cognition in the lives of mature and older adults. Methods: A literature review study was carried out between December 2021 and January 2022, involving the SciELO, PubMed, and ScienceDirect databases, with studies published between February 2018 and December 2021. Results: A total of 754 studies were identified, and after selection, 18 were included. Notably, 16 showed significant effects of social distancing on cognition and socioemotional aspects, that is, the greater the social distancing, the lower the capacity for cognitive performance and the higher the index of symptoms of depression and anxiety, for example. Conclusions: Greater engagement in social activities and a closer contact with friends and family are protective factors against symptoms of depression and anxiety and cognitive decline.

RESUMO Variáveis relacionadas ao distanciamento social podem gerar efeitos negativos para o bem-estar emocional e para a cognição de adultos e idosos. Objetivo: Analisar os estudos disponíveis que abordam a relação entre situações de distanciamento social, sofrimento emocional e cognição na vida de adultos maduros e idosos. Métodos: Realizou-se um estudo de revisão de literatura entre dezembro de 2021 e janeiro de 2022, que envolveu as bases de dados Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), United States National Library of Medicine (PubMed) e ScienceDirect, com estudos publicados entre fevereiro de 2018 a dezembro de 2021. Resultados: O total de 754 trabalhos foi identificado e, após a seleção, 18 foram incluídos. Dezesseis mostraram efeitos significativos do distanciamento social na cognição e no sofrimento emocional, ou seja, quanto maior o distanciamento social, menor a capacidade de desempenho cognitivo e maior o índice de sintomas de depressão e ansiedade, por exemplo. Conclusões: O maior engajamento em atividades sociais e a maior aproximação com amigos e familiares são fatores de proteção contra sintomas de depressão e ansiedade e declínio cognitivo.

RESUMO. A literatura aponta que intervenções de estimulação cognitiva têm mostrado resultados promissores. O ábaco representa uma ferramenta com grande potencial nesse tipo de intervenções. Objetivo: Realizar uma revisão sistemática de estudos publicados nos últimos anos que buscaram, em seus métodos, oferecer um programa de treino cognitivo com o uso do ábaco para estimular habilidades-alvo em idosos e em pessoas de outras faixas etárias, com ou sem comprometimento cognitivo. Métodos: Estudo de revisão sistemática, realizado em julho de 2020, utilizando-se as bases de dados PubMed, MedLine, LILACS e SciELO. Resultados: Um total de 29 estudos foram encontrados, dos quais oito objetivaram identificar o efeito do treino de uma técnica chamada abacus-based mental calculation (AMC) em diferentes faixas etárias e verificar sua aplicabilidade como método de estimulação cognitiva para idosos. No AMC, os participantes aprendem inicialmente a manipular o ábaco físico (PA, na sigla em inglês) e, após adquirirem agilidade, passam a realizar cálculos com uma imagem mental do instrumento, manipulando as contas do denominado ábaco mental (MA, na sigla em inglês). Conclusões: O número de estudos que abordaram o uso do ábaco como ferramenta para realização de treino cognitivo foi bastante limitado diante da relevância do tema. Os estudos analisados apresentaram benefícios do treino cognitivo com uso do ábaco para o desempenho cognitivo de indivíduos de diversas faixas etárias, inclusive em idosos com comprometimento cognitivo. Para estudos futuros, espera-se a realização de mais pesquisas com amostras maiores, com delineamento longitudinal e com métodos bem elaborados, com enfoque em pessoas idosas, saudáveis e/ou com comprometimento cognitivo.

ABSTRACT. The literature indicates that cognitive stimulation interventions have shown promising results. Abacus represents a tool with great potential in such interventions. Objectives: To carry out a systematic review of studies published in recent years that entailed the delivery of a cognitive training program using an abacus to boost target cognitive abilities of older persons and also other age groups, with or without cognitive impairment. Methods: A systematic review study was conducted in July 2020 involving PubMed, MedLine, LILACS, and SciELO databases. Results: A total of 29 studies were retrieved, of which 8 aimed to identify the effect of abacus-based mental calculation (AMC) for different age groups and to determine its applicability as a method of cognitive stimulation for older adults. In AMC technique, participants first learn to use the physical abacus (PA) and after achieving proficiency they perform calculations using a mental image of the device, manipulating the beads of the so-called mental abacus (MA). Conclusions: The number of studies addressing abacus use as a cognitive training tool was rather limited, considering the relevance of the theme. Their interventions have shown benefits for cognitive functioning of individuals of various age groups, including older adults with cognitive impairment. Future studies that involve larger samples of healthy and/or cognitively impaired older adults with a longitudinal design and a more elaborate methodological design are suggested.

RESUMO. O Plano de Atenção Gerontológica é idealizado por meio da gestão de casos que engloba em sua vertente, engajamento da pessoa idosa, autocuidado e aquisição e manutenção de comportamentos de promoção de saúde. Objetivo: Avaliar a importância de um plano de atenção gerontológica em um serviço de geriatria de um hospital de referência na cidade de São Paulo. Métodos: Foram entrevistados 15 pacientes idosos, sendo aplicado o Plano de Atenção Gerontológica (PAGe). Resultados: Em sua maioria, os entrevistados foram classificados como independentes para as atividades instrumentais de vida diária, sendo que 42% deles residem sozinhos. Dados de 277 folhas amarelas foram analisados, ou seja, Fichas de Encaminhamento, nos quais foi possível verificar que as áreas mais acionadas foram o serviço social e a psicologia. Para assistência social, as solicitações mais recorrentes foram a verificação da rede de suporte social, falta de acompanhante e de cuidador, com 53%, problemas familiares, com 20%, falta de adesão ao tratamento, 12%, e problemas relacionados a medicamentos, 10%. Na área da psicologia, 82% dos encaminhamentos foram feitos por necessidade de acompanhamento psicológico/psicoterapia, problemas com família, depressão e luto. Conclusões: Elaborou-se uma proposta de Gestão Gerontológica dentro dos Serviços de Geriatria do Hospital das Clínicas. O plano de gestão teve o intuito de integrar as ações realizadas pela equipe interprofissional, por meio da criação de uma Ficha Integradora que permitiu ao profissional gerontólogo propor, executar e implementar um plano de atenção, acompanhamento e monitoramento dos casos, incluindo o contexto extra-hospitalar.

ABSTRACT. The Gerontological Care Plan is idealized through case management that includes in its aspect engaging the elderly, self-care and the acquisition and maintenance of health-promoting behaviors. Objective: To evaluate the importance of a gerontological care plan, in a geriatric service of a referral hospital in the city of São Paulo. Methods: Fifteen older adult patients were interviewed and the Gerontological Care Plan (PAGe) was applied. Results: Most respondents were classified as independent for instrumental activities of daily living, 42% of whom lived alone. Data from 277 yellow sheets were analyzed, that is, referral forms, in which it was found that the most affected areas were: social work and psychology. For the social worker, the most recurring requests were: verification of the social support network, namely lack of companion and caregiver, with 53%; family problems, with 20%; lack of adherence to treatment, 12%, and problems related to medication, 10%. In the area of psychology, 82% of referrals were due to the need for psychological support, psychotherapy, and help with family problems, depression and grief. Conclusions: A gerontological management proposal was developed within the Geriatric Services of Hospital das Clínicas. The management plan was intended to integrate the actions carried out by the interprofessional team, through the creation of an Integrating Form that allowed the gerontologist to propose, execute and implement a plan of care, follow-up, and monitoring of cases, including the extra context-hospital.

RESUMO. A institucionalização potencializa a tendência às alterações específicas que ocorrem no sono com o envelhecimento, além de consequências negativas para a saúde como o aumento da prevalência de sintomas depressivos. Objetivo: Comparar o perfil do sono com os sintomas depressivos de idosos residentes em instituições de longa permanência para idosos. Métodos: Trata-se um estudo descritivo e quantitativo, desenvolvido 29 com idosos residentes em duas diferentes Instituições de Longa Permanência para Idosos. Foram utilizados um questionário de informações sociodemográficas, Diário do Sono, Questionário para identificação de Indivíduos Matutinos e Vespertinos e Escala de Depressão Geriátrica versão de 15 itens. Os dados foram analisados por meio de uma estatística descrita, Teste t de Student e teste U de Mann-Whitney. Resultados: Houve predomínio de mulheres (72%%), idade entre 80 a 90 anos (48%), viúvas (66%) e com baixa escolaridade (83%). Observou-se que as mulheres dormiram e acordaram mais tarde comparados aos homens. Quanto ao cronotipo, as mulheres foram classificadas como vespertino e os homens como intermediários/ indiferentes. A maioria dos idosos apresentou sintomas de depressão maior (48%), quando comparado aos homens, as mulheres manifestaram mais sintomas depressivos, tanto na categoria distimia quanto depressão maior. Conclusão: Conclui-se que não houve diferença significante nas comparações entre o perfil do sono e sintomas depressivos, porém os idosos com o cronotipo intermediário apresentaram menor escore na escala de sintomas depressivos.

ABSTRACT. Institutionalization potentiates the tendency for specific sleep disturbances which occur with aging, besides negative health consequences such as increased rate of depressive symptoms. Objective: To compare sleep profile and depressive symptoms in elderly nursing home residents, highlighting gender differences. Methods: A quantitative descriptive study of 29 elderly from two different nursing homes was conducted. A sociodemographics questionnaire, Sleep Diary, Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire and the 15-item Geriatric Depression Scale were applied. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Student’s t-test and the Mann-Whitney U-test. Results: The sample comprised individuals that were predominantly female (72%), aged 80-90 years (48%), widowed (66%) and low-educated (83%). The women were found to sleep and awake later than the men. Regarding chronotypes, the women were classified as evening types and men as intermediate/indifferent types. Most of the elderly exhibited symptoms of major depression (48%). Compared to men, women had more depressive symptoms in both dysthymia and major depression categories. Conclusion: No significant differences were evident on comparisons of sleep profile and depressive symptoms, but elderly with the intermediate chronotype scored lower on the depressive symptoms scale.

RESUMO Estudos mostram que o envelhecimento é acompanhado por declínio nas funções cognitivas, mas também indicam que as intervenções como o treinamento de jogos eletrônicos podem melhorar o desempenho e promover a manutenção de habilidades cognitivas em idosos saudáveis. Objetivo: Investigar os efeitos de um programa de jogos eletrônicos, denominado Estação Ativamente no desempenho da cognição global de adultos com mais de 50 anos. Métodos: 124 adultos maduros e idosos inscritos no "Programa de estimulação cognitiva: Estação Ativamente" da Prefeitura Municipal de São Caetano do Sul, do estado de São Paulo. Participaram de um treinamento para aprendizagem de jogos eletrônicos. Os participantes foram divididos em dois grupos: grupo treino n=102 e grupo controle (GC) n=22. Protocolo: um questionário sociodemográfico, o Mini Exame do Estado Mental (MEEM), o Exame Cognitivo de Addenbrooke's Revisado (ACE-R), o Memory Complaint Questionnaire (MAC-Q), uma escala de freqüência de esquecimentos, a Escala de Depressão Geriátrica (GDS-15), a Escala de Ansiedade Geriátrica (GAI), a escala de satisfação geral com a vida e duas escalas sobre a aprendizagem do treinamento. Resultados: Observou-se que o desempenho cognitivo do GT melhorou significativamente após participação no programa, especificamente nos domínios de linguagem e memória, houve diminuição no índice de ansiedade e na frequência de queixas de memória, quando comparado ao GC. Conclusão: Estes achados sugerem que a aquisição de novos conhecimentos e o uso de novos estímulos como os jogos eletrônicos, podem trazer ganhos à cognição, ao humor e à diminuição da frequência de queixas de memória.

ABSTRACT Studies show that aging is accompanied by decline in cognitive functions but also indicate that interventions, such as training on electronic games, can enhance performance and promote maintenance of cognitive abilities in healthy older adults. Objective: To investigate the effects of an electronic game program, called Actively Station, on the performance of global cognition of adults aged over 50 years. Methods: 124 mature and elderly adults enrolled in the "Actively Station" cognitive stimulation program of São Caetano do Sul City, in the State of São Paulo, participated in training for learning of electronic games. Participants were divided into two groups: training group (TG) n=102 and control group (CG) n=22. Protocol: a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), the Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination Revised (ACE-R), the Memory Complaint Questionnaire (MAC-Q), the scale of frequency of forgetfulness, the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15), the Geriatric Anxiety Inventory (GAI), the Global Satisfaction with Life Scale, and two scales on learning in the training. Results: The cognitive performance of the TG improved significantly after the program, particularly in the domains of language and memory, and there was a decrease on the anxiety index and frequency of memory complaints, when compared to the CG. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the acquisition of new knowledge and the use of new stimuli, such as electronic games, can promote improvements in cognition and mood and reduce the frequency of memory complaints.

RESUMO Introdução: O diagnóstico de transtornos neurocognitivos é desafiador na presença de baixa escolaridade. Objetivo: Relatar dados normativos para a Bateria Breve de Rastreio Cognitivo (BBRC) e avaliar a associação da idade e da escolaridade com o desempenho na BBRC, em 240 idosos residentes na comunidade em Ermelino Matarazzo, município de São Paulo. Métodos: Os critérios de inclusão foram pontuação acima de pontos de corte ajustados para escolaridade no Mini-Exame do Estado Mental (MEEM) e abaixo de seis pontos na Escala de Depressão Geriátrica (EDG) . Resultados: A idade esteve associada aos subtestes Nomeação, Memória Incidental, Fluência Verbal, Teste do Desenho do Relógio, Memória Tardia e Reconhecimento. A escolaridade associou-se à Nomeação e Reconhecimento, Fluência Verbal e Teste do Desenho do Relógio. Conclusão: As normas reportadas são relevantes para o diagnóstico de transtornos neurocognitivos em idosos com baixa escolaridade.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Diagnosing neurocognitive disorders is challenging in low-educated individuals. Objective: To report normative data for the Brief Cognitive Screening Battery (BCSB) and to assess the association of age and education with performance on the BCSB in 240 community-dwelling elderly from Ermelino Matarazzo, São Paulo city. Methods: The inclusion criteria were scoring above the education-adjusted cut-off points on the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and below six points on the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). Results: Age was associated with performance on the Naming, Incidental Memory, Verbal Fluency, Clock Drawing Test, Delayed Recall and Recognition subtests. Education was associated with performance on Naming, Recognition, Verbal Fluency and the Clock Drawing Test. Conclusion: The normative values reported are relevant for diagnosing neurocognitive disorders in low-educated elderly.

Estudos prévios sugerem que a previsão de desempenho, um dos aspectos da metamemória, pode estar associada ao desempenho em tarefas de memória. OBJETIVO: Objetivou-se descrever a previsão de desempenho antes da realização de uma tarefa de memória episódica em idosos residentes na comunidade, divididos por sexo, faixas de idade e escolaridade. Adicionalmente, objetivou-se estudar a associação entre a previsão de desempenho com o desempenho objetivo em tarefa de memória. MÉTODOS: Foram utilizados os dados de 359 idosos participantes do estudo FIBRA realizado em Ermelino Matarazzo, São Paulo. Foi utilizada uma questão referente à previsão de desempenho: "Se alguém lhe mostrasse uma folha com desenhos de 10 figuras para observar por 30 segundos, quantas figuras o/a senhor/a acha que conseguiria se lembrar em seguida sem ver a folha?". O desempenho de memória foi avaliado pela memorização de 10 figuras em preto e branco da Bateria Breve de Rastreio Cognitivo (BBRC). RESULTADOS: Não foram encontradas diferenças entre homens e mulheres, entre faixas etárias ou de escolaridade para a previsão de desempenho antes da realização de tarefa de memória. Houve associação modesta (rho=0,11, p=0,041) entre a previsão de desempenho e o desempenho em memória imediata. Na análise de regressão linear multivariada a previsão de desempenho associou-se de forma moderatemente significante com a memória imediata (p=0,061). CONCLUSÃO: Neste estudo observou-se que as variáveis sociodemográficas não influenciaram a previsão de desempenho que esteve associada de forma modesta com a memória imediata na Bateria Breve de Rastreio Cognitivo (BBRC).

Previous studies have suggested that performance prediction, an aspect of metamemory, may be associated with objective performance on memory tasks. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the study was to describe memory prediction before performing an episodic memory task, in community-dwelling older adults, stratified by sex, age group and educational level. Additionally, the association between predicted and objective performance on a memory task was investigated. METHODS: The study was based on data from 359 participants in the FIBRA study carried out at Ermelino Matarazzo, São Paulo. Memory prediction was assessed by posing the question: "If someone showed you a sheet with drawings of 10 pictures to observe for 30 seconds, how many pictures do you think you could remember without seeing the sheet?". Memory performance was assessed by the memorization of 10 black and white pictures from the Brief Cognitive Screening Battery (BCSB). RESULTS: No differences were found between men and women, nor for age group and educational level, in memory performance prediction before carrying out the memory task. There was a modest association (rho=0.11, p=0.041) between memory prediction and performance in immediate memory. On multivariate linear regression analyses, memory performance prediction was moderately significantly associated with immediate memory (p=0.061). CONCLUSION: In this study, sociodemographic variables did not influence memory prediction, which was only modestly associated with immediate memory on the Brief Cognitive Screening Battery (BCSB).

RESUMO Introdução: As escalas de estadiamento das demências, como a Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR), foram elaboradas para graduar a doença de Alzheimer (DA) e não incluem os sintomas específicos da degeneração lobar frontotemporal (DLFT). Objetivo: Realizar a tradução e adaptação cultural da Frontotemporal Dementia Rating Scale (FTD-FRS) para o contexto brasileiro e apresentar dados preliminares da sua aplicabilidade. Métodos: O processo de adaptação transcultural consistiu em: tradução, retrotradução (realizadas por tradutores independentes), discussão com especialistas sobre a versão em português e equivalência com a versão original, desenvolvimento da versão final com pequenos ajustes. Foi feita uma aplicação piloto em 12 pacientes com diagnóstico de demência frontotemporal variante comportamental (DFTvc) e 11 com DA, pareados quanto à gravidade da demência (CDR=1). O protocolo de avaliação incluiu a Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination-Revised (ACE-R), Mini Exame do Estado Mental (MEEM), Executive Interview (EXIT-25), Inventário Neuropsiquiátrico (INP) e a Escala de Avaliação Clínica da Demência (CDR). Resultados: A FTD-FRS na versão brasileira pareceu apropriada. Resultados preliminares revelaram maiores níveis de incapacidade na DFTvc do que em pacientes com DA (DFTvc: 25% leve, 50% moderado, 25% grave; AD: 36.36% leve, 63.64% moderado). A CDR parece subestimar a gravidade da demência na DFTvc, uma vez que uma relevante proporção dos pacientes classificados com leves (CDR=1) de fato apresentaram nível moderado ou grave de comprometimento na FTD-FRS. Conclusão: A versão brasileira da FTD-FRS pode se mostrar adequada para auxiliar no estadiamento e determinar a progressão da DLFT.

ABSTRACT Background: Staging scales for dementia have been devised for grading Alzheimer's disease (AD) but do not include the specific symptoms of frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD). Objective: To translate and adapt the Frontotemporal Dementia Rating Scale (FTD-FRS) to Brazilian Portuguese. Methods: The cross-cultural adaptation process consisted of the following steps: translation, back-translation (prepared by independent translators), discussion with specialists, and development of a final version after minor adjustments. A pilot application was carried out with 12 patients diagnosed with bvFTD and 11 with AD, matched for disease severity (CDR=1.0). The evaluation protocol included: Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination-Revised (ACE-R), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Executive Interview (EXIT-25), Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI), Frontotemporal Dementia Rating Scale (FTD-FRS) and Clinical Dementia Rating scale (CDR). Results: The Brazilian version of the FTD-FRS seemed appropriate for use in this country. Preliminary results revealed greater levels of disability in bvFTD than in AD patients (bvFTD: 25% mild, 50% moderate and 25% severe; AD: 36.36% mild, 63.64% moderate). It appears that the CDR underrates disease severity in bvFTD since a relevant proportion of patients rated as having mild dementia (CDR=1.0) in fact had moderate or severe levels of disability according to the FTD-FRS. Conclusion: The Brazilian version of the FTD-FRS seems suitable to aid staging and determining disease progression.

RESUMO Existem poucos estudos sobre alterações funcionais na variante comportamental da demência frontotemporal (DFTvc). Objetivo: Caracterizar o desempenho funcional de pacientes com diagnóstico prévio de DFTvc. Métodos: Trinta e um pacientes com DFTvc foram comparados a pacientes com doença de Alzheimer (DA) (n=31) e adultos saudáveis (NC) (n=34), pareados para idade e escolaridade. Os pacientes com DFTvc e DA foram pareados pela gravidade da demência. O protocolo incluiu o Mini Exame do Estado Mental, Escala de Depressão Geriátrica (GDS), Direct Assessment of Functional Status (DAFS-BR), Disability Assessment for Dementia (DAD), Functional Activities Questionnaire (PFAQ) e Clinical Dementia Rating scale (CDR). Resultados: O grupo com DFTvc apresentou pior desempenho em Iniciação e Planejamento/Organização na DAD, em Alimentação na DAFS-BR e pontuação mais elevada na PFAQ, sugerindo que a dependência na DFTvc é mais acentuada. Conclusão: Os resultados apresentados sugerem que indivíduos com DFTvc apresentam maior prejuízo funcional, quando comparados com participantes com DA com grau semelhante de gravidade e com adultos saudáveis. A avaliação direta da funcionalidade não ajudou a diferenciar os subtipos de demência de modo significativo.

ABSTRACT There are few studies describing the functional changes in behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD) and it is not clear which aspects of functionality are affected by the disease. Objective: The aim of the present investigation was to characterize the functional profile of patients previously diagnosed with bvFTD. Methods: The sample consisted of 31 patients diagnosed with bvFTD, who were compared to patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) (n=31) and to healthy control subjects (NC) (n=34), matched for schooling and age. bvFTD and AD patients were matched by severity of dementia. The protocol included the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), Direct Assessment of Functional Status (DAFS-BR), Functional Activities Questionnaire (PFAQ), Disability Assessment for Dementia (DAD) and the Clinical Dementia Rating scale (CDR). Results: The group with bvFTD showed worse performance on Initiation and Planning/Organization in the DAD and on ability to feed oneself in the DAFS-BR, as well as higher scores on the PFAQ, suggesting greater dependence in the bvFTD group. Conclusion: The results suggest that individuals with bvFTD display greater functional impairment compared to AD patients with a similar degree of dementia severity and to healthy controls. Direct assessment of functionality proved unable to clearly differentiate between the dementia subtypes.

OBJETIVOS: Avaliar a possibilidade de aliar o treino cognitivo à intervenção psicoeducativa de oito sessões sobre hipertensão visando melhor manejo desta condição crônica em idosos. MÉTODOS: Participaram 64 idosos que se declararam como hipertensos, divididos em grupo experimental (GE, n=35) e grupo controle (GC, n=29). O grupo controle recebeu treino após o pós teste. O protocolo incluiu dados sócio-demográficos e clínicos, o Mini-Exame do Estado Mental (MEEM), Escala de Depressão Geriátrica (EDG), Teste Comportamental de Memória de Rivermead (RBMT), Fluência Verbal categoria animais (FV) e Short Cognitive Test (SKT). RESULTADOS: Pôde-se observar que o GE apresentou melhor desempenho cognitivo, quando comparado ao GC, após a intervenção. CONCLUSÕES: Podem ocorrer ganhos cognitivos associados a uma intervenção psicoeducativa para idosos hipertensos.

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the possibility of combining cognitive training to an educational intervention composed by eight sessions about hypertension for a better management of the disease among the elderly. METHODS: 64 older adults who reported having hypertension, divided into experimental group (EG, n=35) and control group (CG, n=29) participated in the study. Control participants received training after the post-test. The protocol contained socio-demographic and clinical data, Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), Rivermead Behavioral Memory Test (RBMT), Verbal Fluency Animal Category (VF) and Short Cognitive Test (SKT). RESULTS: The EG showed better cognitive performance when compared with the CG, at post-test. CONCLUSION: Cognitive gains may occur after psychoeducational interventions for older adults with hypertension.
